In 2009, John Allen continued his assault on American Association pitching by batting .300 with 12 homers and 72 RBI.  The All-Star placed fifth in the league in total bases with 184, and proved his durability by playing in all 96 games for the second straight season.

Allen posted a .327 average with 20 homers and 65 runs batted in during the 2008 season. Allen led the league with 45 extra-base hits.  His average was fourth-best in the American Association. He also ranked second in home runs and just outside the Top 5 in the league in runs batted in.

On Aug. 16, 2008, Allen became the first player in American Association history to belt four home runs in a game when he did so against the El Paso Diablos at LaGrave Field. He hit a two-run homer in the second inning, a solo homer in the fourth and then hit both a solo homer and a grand slam in the eighth inning. He finished the night 5-for-5 with four homers and eight runs batted in. The Cats won that night 14-0. He was the first Cats' player to hit more than two home runs in a game since the team returned to Fort Worth in 2001.

Was an American Association All-Star, starting in left field for the South Division squad. Finished the night 0-for-4 with an RBI. Batted .357 in the post season, collecting five hits in 14 at bats with a homer and an RBI.

Allen started the 2007 with the Cats batting .248 with two homers and 21 RBI in 38 games before being traded to Brockton on July 6. With the Rox, he batted .275 with five home runs and 29 runs batted in. He played in 55 games, mostly as the DH with Brockton.

Allen had a stellar season with Fort Worth in 2005, leading the league with 38 doubles before missing the entire 2006 season because of injury.

In his rookie season, Allen joined the Cats in June 2004 and batted .319 with 16 doubles in 38 games.

Allen was an All-Southland Conference selection during both his junior and senior seasons at Lamar University in Beaumont. Batted .303 with six homers and 38 runs batted in as a senior.

He was an all-district football and baseball player at Garland High School.
