Made his Fort Worth debut on July 9, 2009 in Sioux Falls. Vander Weg went 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA. In 22.1 innings pitched, he recorded 25 strikeouts.
Started the season with St. Paul, making seven appearances with no record and a 9.49 ERA. He allowed 13 runs in 12 1/3 innings of work.
